A Fortnite player from North Carolina intended to finish his game no matter what even while a massive tornado was ripping through his town.
The best Fortnite players may be great at getting crucial headshots or figuring out new ways to use the game's world-building elements. However, nobody else will be able to claim that they played Fortnite through a tornado.
'Fortnite' Player Plays Through Tornado
A powerful tornado recently ravaged North Carolina, resulting in the declaration of a state of emergency. The natural disaster left behind widespread power outages and massive damage to property.
Anton Williams, from the town of Greensboro, was among the people that found themselves under the wrath of 135 miles per hour winds. However, he did not let the tornado stop him from finishing his game of Fortnite.
In an interview with local news station WXII 12, Williams said that he heard "a bunch of noise" while he was at home playing Fortnite. When he looked out the window, he saw the roof of the houses in front of him fly away while the powerful winds lifted another house off its foundation.
Williams, instead of panicking, decided to sit back down and finish his Fortnite match because he claims that there were only a few people left in the game. However, when things started getting worse and upon seeing power lines going down, Williams moved his sister and nephew to take shelter in his bathroom.
Still, Williams was focused on Fortnite.
"Honestly, I was thinking about the game, but I was hoping everybody was OK around me," he said.
Williams might not have won the match, but he has now been added as a legend in the ever-growing Fortnite lore. At the very least, he is definitely the kind of player who you would want to be added to your squad.
'Fortnite' Rises To Top Of Battle Royale Genre
While PlayerUnknown's Battlegrounds may be the game that popularized Battle Royale, Fortnite has since risen to the top of the genre, which pits players and teams against each other in last-man-standing matches.
Epic Games has kept Fortnite players hooked through constant updates that keep gameplay fun and fresh, such as the recent addition of the Port-a-Fort item and the temporarily removal of the guided missile due to a bug.
The intense focus that Williams displayed in playing Fortnite through a storm, meanwhile, is likely the same thing that has pushed girlfriends to start a petition to ban Fortnite. The game, apparently, has stolen the attention of their boyfriends.
